Hi,
I live in Australia, where I have migrated 30 years ago. I just moved to Melbourne from NSW country. I thought that renting my house in the country I would have enough money to rent a flat in town and live comfortably. Well, from more than 100 square metres house I find myself sharing a flat of less than 20 square metres! I am stunned to say the least. Not having any physical space in which to turn is shocking.
Added to this is the feeling to be totally alienated in this new vibrant Melbourne. Everyone seems to be connected to a piece of it-e-device. Even at cafés or restaurants, one often see a couple busy each fingering their own device forgetting to eat and drink. Curious. I am of the opinion that when in a public place one is looking forward meeting people, but obviously this is not the case any longer. Mind you curiously it does not make restaurants and cafés quieter places. Usually one is surrounded by the braying of music tv channel blaring at top volume. So I suppose I've found my own answer, people are texting each other across the table in order to communicate without losing their voice. As for their hearing well that's too bad, it's already on the way out. Sorry folks, I am sure that in the future the otorinolaryngologists will built a shrine to modern technology.
As this is the intro to my blog , what do I intend to do with it? Well I mainly intend to use it as a online journal/diary, I'm afraid it will be mainly ranting about modern life. But it may be a shared adventure if you wish to. What will be, will be.
