Queen Victoria's Markets

Today we went to the markets. It is amazing the difference of prices with the big food companies.
Bananas at 0.50 /kg, mangoes 0.70 each, cherries at $4.00/kg. melons at 1.50 each.It is simply amazing.  The food at the market is fresh and tasty. One can always find a good bargain. I wonder why people keep going to Coles or Woolworth for their fruits and veggies?
Yesterday we went shopping on Brunswick Street. Despite the working class environment, we found that each shop had a specific atmosphere transforming it in an interesting and often classy boutique and to add to this at reasonable prices. That is where we did most of our Christmas shopping.
There we found also in a old warehouse a bar/restaurant which we enjoyed very much, as well as the many locals. The atmosphere, the service and the food was great. This place is called : Little Creatures Dining Hall, 222 Brunswick Road, Fitzroy (www.littlecreatures.com.au).
It reminded me of the brasserie Le Balzar in Paris. I had a great time there.
