You first appeared in my class

As a quiet, shy, introvert young man

Very insecure about the learning process of French.

To tell the truth your pronunciation at first was atrocious

But your grammar was excellent and showing great scholarship

I always liked the way you offered to clean the board at the end of the class

It was easy for you as you were so tall and I so short

It was during those few moments that I began to know you better

And discovered a mild spoken, modest, charming, honest, warm person

I enjoyed your discrete sense of humor.

Teaching you the nuts and bolts of French grammar and translation

The class became alive with discussion as

You could always raise an argument and

Not let it go until you were satisfied that it had been clarified

It became an entertaining exchange of knowledge

Because of you I became a better lecturer

Despite the fact that you have passed away so quickly

As a friend of yours said :

I am so proud of being part of your life

And I will not forget you.
