Lying restlessly on
another sleepless night
Listening to the not
so muted urban night life
Of this large southern
metropolis
I started reminiscing
on long past summer nights
The cicadas strident
raucous slowly fading
Replaced by the
metronomic tempo of the frogs
Taken over by the
lonesome haunting cry
Of the Koel, our northern
summer night visitor.
You stole my peaceful dreams
and rest!
How long were the
hours of the night
Doomed by your search
of aestival love?
How many times did I
curse you?
How I hated your song,
how I miss it tonight!
Summer is not summer
without you!
