What a surprise to see amongst the harshly
brash strokes of graffiti
The reconstructed composition of the Great Wave off Kanagawa
By Hokusai Katsushika famous for his
36 views of Mount Fuji.
The curling blue wave and its sprite
rise vertically on the brick wall
As if ready to toss along man in its
latest modern incarnation
In its deepest heart. It takes on a sudden urgency
By its sheer size overpowering the
passing pedestrian.
In the background Mount Fuji still
stands proud and alone
Symbol of the Japanese resilience after the terrible
tsunami
At Fukushima last year caused by the
earthquake.
A few lanes later another social wink
to be found
Is the old Buddhist monk spinning a
prayer mill?
At the corner of a Fitzroy
lane, one has to be astonished by such display
Is it a Tibetan monk praying in the wind against
tyranny,
Or for freedom of religion?
Or just thanking the world to be
alive? Who knows?
It is nonetheless a splendid work of
art with which everyone can connect.
I am personally grateful to you
unknown artists for sharing with us these privileged moments.
I offer to you my humble thanks!
