Youth

I love the energy of youth
It lives in a whirlpool
Of would be possibilities
Made of dreams and illusions
And mostly inexperience.
Everyday bringing its own challenges
The first relationship
The first date and the first breakup
The first share accommodation
The first rusty car
The first job or the next exam
Life has thus become so exciting.
But for us oldies, the telling
Is unfortunately so boring
Listening to a loud mouth
Full of hot wind and himself
Or so it seems.
But, hey, remember
How is was
The world was our oyster too
And we had a good go at it
So let's not prejudge the youth!

The hipster dilemna

Picture a young hipster
With a white rolled umbrella
Walking confidently down the street
Holding and talking into a mobile
The proper incarnation of fashionable dignity
Allied with successful business.
When a squall arrives
He looks seriously at his brolly
And at the sky falling above him
And decides to keep walking
Gets drenched by the time
He's turned the corner.
Obviously a status symbol
To be kept at all cost
And the function be damned!
Truthfully have you ever seen
A real business man
With an open umbrella?
A real business man
Just does not get caught
Under a shower when crossing
The street. Full stop!

Bon Dieu!
Sincèrement  avez-vous jamais vu
Un homme d'affaires réel
Avec un parapluie ouvert?
Un homme d'affaires réel
Sait  ne pas se faire attraper
Par une ondée dans la rue.
Un point c'est tout!

Unpacking memories

Everyone knows of the role played
By the taste of famous madeleine in
Proust involuntary memory,
But I discovered another source
While unpacking boxes
During this week move.
I have rediscovered moments
Of my past life, past friends,
Past trips, past holidays,
Through everyday objects
That have been stored away
For almost a year and forgotten.
A sugar pot from Normandy,
An ashtray and a vase from Spain,
A market impulse buying of a jam spoon
With my daughter on a wintery day
They have all brought up in mind
Younger times and emotional souvenirs.
It has often a bitter sweet feeling
Associated with it, of something gone
Forever but worth remembering
All the same.

Life Timeline

Mankind's timeline
Is as follow:
When one is young
Dream as may
Mistakes and pain
Define ones personality.
When one is adult
Pride and success are ones friends
Fickle or not as may be.
When one is old
Empty memories
Solitude and waiting for death
Are the name of the game.

Le calendrier de l’humanité
Est le suivant:
Pendant la jeunesse
Malgré tous les rêves
Ce sont les erreurs et les douleurs
Qui construisent la personnalité.
A l’âge  adulte
